Minister of Music

20 hours per week, including Sundays

About the Role

Falmouth Congregational Church seeks a dynamic Minister of Music to lead the congregation's musical life under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and with the support of our Music Committee. We're looking for someone with skill, range, and a collaborative spirit who is comfortable across musical genres, from our treasured traditional hymns to the wider world of Christian sacred music.

Key Responsibilities

•          Lead music for Sunday worship including prelude, postlude, hymns, and responses.

•          Direct the chancel choir and the hand bell choir and lead weekly rehearsals

•          Coordinate music selections with the Senior Pastor, tied to the week's liturgy and sermon themes

•          Invite and include volunteer and youth musicians to foster a welcoming and growing music program

•          Oversee the purchase and upkeep of music and instruments

•          Provide music for weddings and funerals (fees arranged directly with families)

•          Attend staff and planning meetings and have a regular presence during the week

•          Fulfill all other administrative duties of a vibrant music program

Ideal Candidate

•          A skilled organist and keyboardist with some bell experience (or a willingness to learn)

•          Strong choral and instrumental conducting skills

•          Experience and enthusiasm across musical styles and traditions

•          Collaborative, warm, and reliable for weekly staff meetings, rehearsals and Sunday services

•          Inviting, joyful and enthusiastic while creating musical moments that advance the worship experience

Reporting & Support

Reports to the Senior Pastor. A six-month performance review will include the Pastor, Personnel Committee, and Music Committee. Administrative support is provided by the Office Manager.

Compensation & Terms

•          Compensation commensurate with experience (amount to be finalized)

•          Paid vacation and sick leave per church Personnel Policy

•          Contingent upon successful completion of a background check
